The cherry originates from the Black Sea<\/strong> and the Caspian Sea<\/strong>. It was first cultivated by the Greeks<\/strong> in 4000 B.C. and only later introduced to Italy by the Romans<\/strong> in 73 B.C. as a luxury food. The first historical evidence of the presence of cherries in Apulia, however, only dates back to 1648 near Castellana Grotte<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
